The end of an era



Steve Linn, hands out tickets on the eve of the last show at the Art Theater on 4th Street near Cherry Ave.


Howard Linn clears the cash register while the last showing of 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days,which is the last film that will be played under his ownership.


Howard and his wife Florence drive away from the theater before the end of the last show.


An empty art theater minutes after a showing. When the theater opens under new ownership in June, it will be remodeled.

Long Beach State beats undefeated Florida



Brooke Turner pitched a complete 10 inning game and set a new school record with 16 strikeouts.


Lacy Tyler hits an infield single and drives in Franciska Morlet during the bottom of the 10th inning with 2 outs.


Franciska Morlet scores the winning run in the 10th inning to give Florida their first loss of the season.

Amir Abdel Malik Ali




Ali speaks about Malcolm X in the University Student Union Ballroom for Black History Month. Ali is an outspoken supporter of Hamas, Hezbollah, and suicide bombings.


Candace Thiele, a junior anthropology major at CSULB and Army Specialist, speaks about anthropology's place in war, and her experience in Iraq.

Ervin Staub



Ervin Staub is Professor of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has studied the relationship between psychology and violence, and published books on his theory.


Mr. Staub presents a photo of a mass grave discovered in Darfur.
